Erin and Ryan are some of the biggest goofballs, and cutest couples you will ever meet. Erin has a genuine laugh and Ryan knows exactly how to make her smile. Their wedding day at The Boathouse at Mercer Lake had no shortage of this, but I feel like I should start even earlier.
When we did their engagement session in the beginning of the fall, we had such an amazing time. We were just hanging out with friends walking around Lambertville, eating ice cream and enjoying the weather. We couldn’t wait for their big day.
It was a bit overcast in the morning but I knew it was going to get sunny out just in time for the ceremony. We arrived at Erin and Ryan’s home where all the ladies were getting ready. Everyone was excitedly talking in the room in the back which was filled with bobby pins and laughing. On the table were letter to Erin, from Ryan. He had hand written beautiful notes for each part of their day that he couldn’t be there for. It doesn’t get much sweeter than that!
It smelled like a crisp fall morning and I went outside in search of some colorful leaves for some detail shots. I was balancing the rings and invitations on the leaves and pushing things around until I liked them. I soon realized that the sound of the leaves sliding on the wood floor was attracting Erin and Ryan’s big kitty, who thought that I was very obviously setting up a toy for him. I snapped a few pictures of him before he realized what was ACTUALLY going on, and he ran off. We snapped the pictures of the details and when we finished we headed over to The Boathouse at Mercer Lake to get some pictures of Ryan and his groomsman getting ready.
When we got to the Boathouse the sun was breaking through the clouds and it warmed up the day. We met Ryan in the parking lot as he and his guys were bringing in the last of the details. I have never seen such a helpful group of groomsman on a wedding day as these guys. We pulled them away from all their work on the reception area and had them get ready. Ryan was excited but also nervous about how all the details were going to work out. After they got all dressed, they headed back into the reception space to tie bows on the chairs and light candles. Like I said earlier, most helpful groomsman ever!
Erin and Ryan put so much thought into every detail of their day. They have both always loved fall so it was just the natural choice for them to have the wedding in the fall as well, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Between the colors of the bridesmaid’s dresses to florals, to the mini pumpkin place card holders. I loved seeing their vision come to life, and how it made it so personal. They even had dozens of mini pumpkin pies for dessert instead of cake, so adorable and LITERALLY sweet.
We got Ryan staged for the first look on the little pathway that reaches out to the lake, and it was a picture perfect scene. Erin made her way to Ryan, and tapped on his shoulder. The next moments are so sweet, Ryan had trouble finding the words to say to his perfect bride, because the sight was that amazing.
After the first look and a few moments to talk and wipe the happy tears away, we headed to the tree line for some family portraits! When their families saw them walking towards them everyone gasped and smiled, they looked amazing! We did some family portraits and bridal party portraits and stole them away for a couple minutes to just get pictures of them. They were so sweet and I loved seeing how excited they were to marry each other.
When we finished their portraits we headed back into the boathouse to hide them away before the ceremony. We cold see the seats filling up up with their friends and family and the sun going in and out of the clouds. The ceremony was officiated by their friend Morgan, who did an amazing job making the ceremony so personal and truly beautiful.
After the ceremony everyone went to enjoy a beautiful cocktail hour on the porch of the gorgeous Boathouse at Mercer Lake. The details were incredible and all of the food was delicious. We loved getting to work here for the second time this year. During the reception, Erin and Ryan danced THE WHOLE TIME. They had so much fun, and it was contagious! Everyone was smiling and laughing, and you could truly feel the love their family and friends had towards them. We quickly stole them out for a few sunset pictures, and the sky was perfect.
Erin and Ryan, thank you for being awesome and allowing us to be a part of your big day!
