Every once in a while you need to step away from your work and do something fun. I called my parents on Wednesday night and I asked if I could steal away my younger sister, Emma, for a photo shoot. I just needed to get out of the house! I posted in my local Allentown NJ Facebook group asking if anyone had seen any blooming trees around. I got a Facebook message from a wonderful lady from town telling me I could use her front yard with her amazing blooming plum trees! I picked up Emma, threw on some hair and makeup and we headed over. Looking through the lens I felt like I was transported to another dream world. I LOVE our town!
Andy and I have very different strengths when it comes to our business. Yesterday I was really able to show Andy what I am really good at and teach him some posing. He got some of my favorite pictures of the entire day! We are incredible blessed to be able to learn from each other, even though it is hard at times. I would not be able to do what I do on a creative level if I had to run all of the back of house things that Andy does. As a husband and wife team we are constantly around each other. At work, at home, at shoots. Usually, between the two of us, one of us can not turn of what we call “The Business Brain”. I have to say “HEY, put your phone down and read a book with us!” or he has to say “HEY put away your laptop and come play hide and seek with us!”. It is a very hard balance and we are still learning what the right mount of family time, work time, and personal time is.
When we finished taking pictures yesterday we were so excited to show everyone the pictures. Emma did a great job modeling for us and now my dad has to get his shotgun out. (Jk. …or maybe not jk…)
