Allyson + Steve's Wedding - Durham Hill Farm Wedding
Barn Wedding Venue, Bucks County, PAAllyson + Steve
“I knew I was falling for him fast and hard, and that this was definitely different from anything that I had ever experienced in the past.”
We had the pleasure of shooting Allyson and Steve’s wonderful wedding last September at the awesome Durham Hill Farm! They’re a goofy and stylish couple and a complete blast to be around, so you can imagine that their wedding was an amazing time!
They have an adorable story!
Allyson and Steve originally met in middle school, at Neshaminy Junior High School. In their (hilarious) words, Steve was a “skinny, awkward pubescent teen”, and Allyson was a “skinny, tomboy pubescent teen!”
Although they went to school together for many years, they hadn’t seen each other since graduating high school when they met back up again…12 years later! A mutual friend of theirs thought that they might be good for each other, and he secretly asked each of them if they knew one another. So, taking the cue, Steve reached out to Allyson!
Allyson ended up turning him down a few times, but he was persistent, so she finally gave him a chance.

Hilarious! She caved and went to the brewery with him to hang out and catch up after all those years, and the rest is history!
In Steven’s words, he knew Allyson was the one while he was “drunk, dressed up in a gorilla costume at a Halloween party.” They had only been dating for about a month, and they sat on a sofa at the party as Steve told her,
“As crazy as it sounds, I think I love you.” And in his words “she didn’t run away, so that’s good.”
Allyson says she knew Steven was the one not too long after they met up for that first date at the brewery. She loved hearing all of the stories about his life, and was impressed and pleasantly surprised with all he’d done and all they had in common!
She says that for their second date, Steve took her out for a wonderful dinner at Townsend in Philly, and that she’d never had someone who treated her so well! They had great conversation, and enjoyed a delicious dinner and lovely night so effortlessly and quickly!

“I knew I was falling for him fast and hard, and that this was definitely different from anything that I had ever experienced in the past.”
Allyson and Steve took a Spring trip to Australia, where Steve, unsuspected by Allyson, was planning to propose. He planned a beautiful private sunrise kayak trip to a small island with a private breakfast, which due to a scheduling mishap, unfortunately didn’t work out! Instead, they spent the day in the Daintree Rainforest, were they came upon a secluded spot between palm trees, with a hammock and a sign on the tree that read “Fred’s Place”.
Surrounded by incredible nature and surrounded by the beauty of it all, Steve proposed to Allyson.

Flash forward to their wedding day!
I walked into Allyson & Steve’s wedding super excited because their engagement session was such a blast. Allyson got ready in Durham Hill Farm’s beautiful bridal suite surrounded by her lovely family and people in her bridal party! She wore a gorgeous floral lace, trumpet- fit gown from Sottero and Midgley by Maggie Sottero! It suited her PERFECTLY. Her veil was pieced together with delicate vintage lace that was to die for!
All her bridesmaids had genuine vintage dresses that they found within the color scheme, and her bridesman wore an awesome suit to match.
Steve’s suit had a striking custom jacket, and he and all the groomsmen wore these super handsome Dazi ties. They also all had crazy awesome socks, which is always a plus! It was all perfectly thought out and came together beautifully!

Before their ceremony, they had their first look. Allyson and Steve stood facing away from each other, reading the letters they wrote to each other before they turned to see each other for the first time. I love this style of doing a first look because it allows all the emotions to flow and it allows us to capture it! It was super emotional and joyful! They both lost it in the best way possible, it was a really special moment. You can just tell by Steve’s reaction in the photos below.

Out front, they had a bowl of real dried flower petals for guests to toss as they walk back up, and let me tell you, it was SO cool. These always make for awesome recessional photos! All of the florals and details of the day pulled together into an amazing wedding. Did I mention Allyson’s STUNNING bouquet and her and Steve’s rings? They exchanged their vows in front of the people they love, and there was plenty of laughter and emotions full of love to go around!

After the ceremony, we headed out for some portraits! We got some family photos, and then we whisked away Allyson and Steve to explore the gorgeous farm grounds at Durham Hill Farm. Of course we got some shot of them in the gorgeous pasture. They have this old vintage truck that we got some romantic portraits in front of, and we ventured out into the field for some under the veil shots and generally adorable pictures.

We headed back for a some of the cocktail hour, where Allyson and Steve greeted and talked with their guests. Then it was time for the reception! They had an awesome live band, (Brian Williams and the Get Back) and the barn was decorated perfectly. They had emotional dances, super touching and hilarious speeches from several friends and family members, and Allyson’s father gave a speech that was especially moving. Everyone danced and ate and partied. It was a complete blast and a beautiful wedding!

During the reception we stole Allyson and Steve away for some fun night shots! We got photos of champagne spraying, smoke bombs, and dancing in the strung up lights of the farm.
After some more dancing and enjoying the night and all the little details, we wrapped up with a sparkler exit out of the barn. We are so very happy for Allyson and Steve, and their wedding couldn’t have been better!
