This weekend was one of the hardest weekends of my life. It was our first ever triple header wedding weekend. It was windy, rainy, sunny, hot, cold and amazing. It was physically challenging due to my health status, but was also physically challenging for Andy, our second shooters and our assistant. It was mentally challenging because through all of the blood, sweat, and tears (literally. I can’t make this stuff up. How is your finger by the way J Dawg?!) we had to stay upbeat and creative. It was challenging for our business because Andy and I decided recently to bring on an incredible new assistant for this weekend and train her on how we work and her photography as well, which was brand new to us. It was Challenging for us as parents because we did not see our daughter for 4 days straight.

I broke a new camera. Dropped a lens. Our new assistant shut her fingers in a door. We got hailed on during portraits. I cried when our bride and groom’s daughter sang “Let It Go” to them because I missed Lucy So. Darn. Much.

The more that I think about the challenges from this weekend, the more rewarded I feel. We faced big challenges and small ones too (Like really small, there was a tick stuck in between the bride’s tulle on her waist. I tried to help and failed so instead I just took pictures of it all…), and through all of the bad I am so proud of my team and of myself. I am proud of how we learned from the issues that arose and how we captured amazing shots for our couples through sun, rain, and hail. It is a great feeling knowing that whatever we may face, you are doing what we are called to do.

We got to witness love this weekend. We got to capture true friendships. We got to dance with our couples and laugh with them. We got to be there for the best day of their entire lives, and for that I am so thankful. We had the best weekend ever!

I wanted to share some special previews from this past weekend to hold everyone over while I prepare each wedding’s blog posts! Keep an eye out for the rest of the weddings coming up this week!

First up was Catherine and Craig! Their wedding was in LBI and they were absolute troopers when we were getting rained on during portraits!

Next up on Saturday was Jamie and Gordon’s rustic chic wedding! It cooled down just in time for the ceremony and every little detail was perfect!

And then last but not least, Brittany and Andrew’s gorgeous day, filled with lots of family and happy tears!

And yes, you guessed it. This is their daughter, Gianna, singing you are my sunshine. Everyone was crying. They have raised one amazing and powerful little girl!

Remember, the full blog posts will be up throughout the week so don’t forget to check back in!
